
The Robert W. Hendra Awards for Emerging Opera Singers
The Robert W. Hendra Charitable Trust is committed to supporting promising emerging opera singers at the outset of their professional careers.
Through the Robert W. Hendra Awards for Emerging Opera Singers, the Trust seeks to assist outstanding artists as they make the transition from formal musical training to the professional operatic stage.
The Robert W. Hendra Award takes the form of a Career Development Grant to support essential professional development activities, including auditions, professional coaching, language tuition, travel and other expenses directly related to the recipient's career.
Applications are invited from singers who have completed their studies at a recognised conservatoire or school of music either in the current year or within the previous two years.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:

Have completed their formal conservatoire or university training and be at the beginning of their professional careers.

Provide evidence of successful completion of a course of study at a recognised conservatoire or school of music within the previous two years.

Submit two references from recognised professional musicians.

Submit a recording made within the previous twelve months featuring two contrasting operatic arias, one of which must be drawn from the Italian repertoire.
Audition
Applicants may be invited to audition in person before the Trustees. The Trustees reserve the right to make awards at their discretion, and their decision shall be final.
The Trustees welcome applications from gifted young singers of exceptional promise who would benefit from financial assistance in pursuing their professional artistic development.
